About the School of Education

The School of Education (SoE) at the University of Kigali is a vibrant and dynamic community dedicated to preparing exceptional educators, researchers, managers, and leaders. Established with the mission of academic excellence and innovation, SoE admitted its first Bachelor’s degree students in the 2020/2021 academic year, while the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) has been offered since 2016. Our diverse faculty and student body represent several nationalities, creating a rich, multicultural learning environment.

Why choose School of Education?

SoE offers comprehensive undergraduate and PGDE programs, with specializations in Early Childhood Development Education. We are also planning to introduce innovative programs like English-Kinyarwanda Education, History-Geography Education, and ICT-Mathematics Education in the near future. These programs are designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in diverse educational settings.

Our commitment to research addresses pressing educational issues and promotes equity and access in education. Faculty and students collaborate on projects that influence policy and practice at local, national, and international levels, ensuring our graduates are at the forefront of educational innovation.

Through partnerships with schools and community organizations, our students gain invaluable real-world experience. Field-based learning opportunities, including well-supervised school practice and observation, ensure that our graduates are highly sought after by employers, often securing employment before completing their degrees.

We strive to create an inclusive environment where all community members feel valued and respected. Our programs emphasize culturally responsive teaching and the importance of fostering inclusive classrooms. The Centre of Inclusive Education supports aspiring students with determination, ensuring seamless pursuit of their studies.

Our faculty are distinguished scholars and practitioners dedicated to the success of our students. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom, preparing students to address the complex challenges of today’s educational landscape.
