How to apply
step by step
Check Your Eligibility
Undergraduate: minimum two principal passes at A-Level (or national equivalent). Masters: relevant Bachelor's degree. Proof of English proficiency required for non-English-medium high schools.
Gather Your Documents
You'll need: certified copies of your academic certificates, a valid passport, medical insurance, recent passport photo, and a Rwanda Education Board equivalence certificate if your qualifications are from outside Rwanda.
Submit Your Application
Complete the online application form or visit our International Admissions Office. Submit your documents and registration fee. Applications are processed on a rolling basis no fixed deadlines.
Receive Your Offer Letter
Once your application is reviewed and accepted, you'll receive a formal offer letter within 5–7 working days. This letter is required for your Rwandan student visa application.
Apply for Your Student Visa
Use your UoK offer letter to apply for a Rwandan student visa through your nearest Rwandan Embassy or High Commission. Most nationalities can also apply on arrival or through e-visa for initial entry.

Admission Requirements

 The University of Kigali requires prospective undergraduate students to have completed their secondary education with satisfactory grades. Specific requirements may vary depending on the programme of interest. Check the detailed requirements for each programme.
For postgraduate programmes, applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution. The admission process generally includes submitting an application form, academic transcripts, a CV, and a statement of purpose. Specific programmes might have additional requirements such as letters of recommendation or work experience​.
We accept applications through our online application portal
 Applicants are typically required to submit the following documents:
- Completed application form
- Copy of secondary school certificate or equivalent
- Academic transcripts
- Identification documents (e.g., national ID or passport)
- Recent passport-sized photographs.
- Additional documents may be required based on the specific programme applied for​.
We have three intakes in a year – January, May and September. Admissions are open every trimester. You will be offered admission to the next available intake.
No, there is no application fee. A non-refundable admission fee must be paid after you are admitted to UoK.
